Hot picks from Prop Store's 2018 entertainment memorabilia live auction...

It feels like only yesterday that Prop Store held their first live auction of rare movie and television memorabilia, but it's that time again for another treasure trove of items to go under the hammer, this time including such find as Harrison Ford's iconic 'Han Solo' jacket from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and his signature fedora and bullwhip from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Temple of Doom. The auction on September 20, 2018 will also feature a wide array of screen-used costumes and props, concept artwork, models, puppets and more Hollywoodland memorabilia from all genres.

I always enjoy leafing through the extensive auction catalogue to make my hottest picks, from my perspective anyway, and this Superman suit worn by Christopher Reeve is a dream come true.

Featured in the original and beloved 1978 comic book adaptation and the first two sequels, this iconic costume in red, blue and yellow is instantly recognisable and sported by a charismatic actor who didn't need to look like a superhuman fitness model.

Yvonne Blake was Costume Designer on Richard Donner's movie, translating the DC Comics character's look (created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1933) from page to the big screen.

This classic costume is estimated to sell for £60,000-£80,000, and possibly more for a true Man of Steel enthusiast.

Armageddon spacesuit worn by Ben Affleck

From superheroes from other planets to heroes from Earth trying to stop an asteroid from obliterating humanity, this spacesuit was worn by Ben Affleck as 'A.J. Frost' in Michael Bay's 1998 popcorn summer blockbuster Armageddon.

I'm a big fan of sci-fi and always love to see how feature films and TV shows interpret astronaut suits,  like Matt Damon's NASA spacesuit from The Martian to Sandra Bullock's Gravity astronaut costume and Anne Hathaway's Interstellar spacesuit.

Apparently these Armageddon suits weigh over 30kg (around 70lbs) each and costed more than $1 million to design and develop by Costume Designers Magali Guidasci and Michael Kaplan with extensive input from the director.

This heroic spacesuit from the sci-fi spectacular is expected to fetch £15,000-£20,000 at auction.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard Starfleet uniform worn by Patrick Stewart

Keeping to the space theme and because it's been announced that Patrick Stewart will be helming a new series with the further adventures of 'Captain Jean-Luc Picard', his burgundy and black Starfleet command uniform from Star Trek: The Next Generation will be very desirable.

The acclaimed British actor wore this spandex jumpsuit in the first two seasons of the sci-fi TV series that ran from 1987 to 1994, leading the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise starship.

This Starfleet costume of the 24th century designed by the legendary William Ware Theiss could be yours for around £10,000-£15,000.

Captain America: The First Avenger WWII costume

Because I'm such a Marvel Comics fan, my next top pick is this fantastic WWII army rescue costume worn by Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger.

This patriotic outfit was designed by Anna B. Shepard for Joe Johnston's 2011 origin movie of American Super Soldier, 'Steve Rogers' created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.

It's not easy wrapping an enthusiastic boy scout in the red, white and blue star-spangled banner and making it believable, but Marvel Studios movie achieved it admirably, plus be sure to check out more Captain American movie costumes from subsequent films.

This distressed brown leather jacket and paratrooper trousers ensemble is expected to sell for £40,000-£60,000.

Edward Scissorhands costume worn by Johnny Depp

And finally for my favourite finds in this year's live auction from Prop Store is this outstanding costume from Tim Burton's 1990 fantasy fairytale, Edward Scissorhands.

The romantic dark fantasy is a wonderfully bizarre and sweet (I've never been able to look at an ice sculpture without thinking of this film since), and Johnny Depp's leather and vinyl bondage-look costume was designed by Tim Burton and Colleen Atwood and created by Western Costume.

This character costume and look is so iconic and I regularly see it sported at West Hollywood's annual Halloween festivities all these years later.

Fans hoping to score this fine costume will need to raid their bank accounts for around £60,000-£80,000.

As you can see from this curated selection, there are some amazing pieces available to buy in this auction from the small and big screen. Make sure you browse Prop Store's website to see all the costumes, props and memorabilia going under the hammer for your chance to own a piece of cinematic and televisual history.
