Cate Blanchett's Lady Tremaine Stepmother and Stepsister costumes from Cinderella...

In Disney's live-action version of the classic rags-to-riches fairytale, Cate Blanchett is perfection as a deliciously scheming epitome of a Disney villain as Cinderella's Stepmother, the 'Lady Tremaine', flanked by her dumb and ugly-on-the-inside daughters, played by Downton Abbey's Sophie McShera and The Borgias' Holliday Grainger in true Tweedledum and Tweedledee fashion.

These extravagant and gaudy dresses worn by the mother and daughter trio were photographed on display at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on March 17, 2015, alongside other fabulous costumes and props from the romantic fantasy movie.

If you like these three gowns worn by Cinderella's step-family to the Palace Ball, designed by Academy Award-winner Sandy Powell, then you'll also love Cinderella's beautiful ball gown worn by Lily James and Helena Bonham Carter's Fairy Godmother costume from Cinderella too.

Some time after the death of Ella's mother, her father decides to try for some happiness with another woman and chooses the recently widowed 'Lady Tremaine' to be his new wife.

When her merchant father dies, Ella is left in the care of her Stepmother and her two daughters who all treat her abysmally, like a common servant girl, and even give her the name 'Cinderella' as her face is one day covered in ash from laying by the kitchen fireplace to keep warm after being exiled to the cold attic.

When Lady Tremaine hears that the Prince has invited every maiden in the land to the Royal Ball she rushes to secure the services of a local seamstress to make three new exquisite garments for her and her daughters to try and catch the eye and win the hand of the Prince.

The acid green dress is made of silk charmeuse, inspired by 40's Dior with hint of 19th century thrown in.

It's a shame that these gowns don't also have the jewelry displayed with them as they really complete the outfits, although it's ironic that Cinderella's Stepmother chooses a green dress, symbolising her envious and greedy personality.

My favourite outfit she wears in the movie though is her 'arrival costume', which features that amazing hat, as shown in the promotional poster above and helps evokes that classic villain imagery.

If you're a fan of the actress, be sure to check out this royal gown worn by Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth: The Golden Age and this Lady Marion Loxley Medieval costume from Robin Hood on display.

Whereas Cinderella's ball gown is simple and elegant, her evil Stepsisters floral dresses are much more fussy and they actually remind me of Dale Chihuly glasswork sculptures.

Be sure to compare these colourful gowns to the costumes worn by the Stepmother and Stepsisters in Disney's Into the Woods musical, designed by Colleen Atwood.

Helena Bonham Carter's exquisite fairytale gown was encrusted with 126,000 crystals and star-pendants to evoke a dream-like illumination to the Fairy Godmother's enchanting dress.

Seeing this voluminous costume up close you could almost argue it looks a tad plasticky under this lighting, but on the big screen it really works, as Cinderella's Fairy Godmother works her magic and turns a pumpkin into an ornate golden carriage and mice into horses, lizards into footmen and a goose into a driver, not to mention transforming Cinderella into a vision fit for a Royal ball.

If you're a fan of the actress, be sure to also check out her Western saloon costume from Disney's The Lone Ranger and her Royal costume from The King's Speech.

If you like this costume, stick around in the coming days for more fantastic costumes from Disney's 2015 live-action adaptation of the Cinderella fairytale.

Cinderella ball gown worn by Lily James in Disney's live-action movie...

In Disney's new live-action fairytale movie directed by Kenneth Branagh, Cinderella, not only are the actors the stars of the show, but this fabulous ball gown worn by Lily James as the titular rags-to-riches princess provides much of the film's spectacle.

This voluminous dress designed by three time Oscar-winner Sandy Powell, was photographed on display at the infamous El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on March 17, 2015, and it really is a delight to behold in person and even needs a larger display case than usual costumes.

If you like this spectacular gown from the updated fairytale, be sure to check out these other original Cinderella movie costumes on display at ArcLight Sherman Oaks cinema in advance of the film opening in theatres.

When Lily James wears this beautiful blue ball gown as Cinderella to the Palace Ball (magically created by her Fairy Godmother), the waltz dance sequence with 'Prince Kit' is a real highlight of the movie. How the dress moves across the floor is amazing and surely deserves an Oscar nomination itself, regardless of the other fantastic outfits in the film.

Cinderella's ball gown is adorned with butterfly details, as our heroine has a special affinity with nature and animals, and has over 111,000 light-refracting Crystal Blue Aurora Borealis and Clear crystals. The show-stopping ball gown is made up of 24 layers of tulle and has a circumference of 11.6 metres.

In person the blue of the dress is not as strong as in the finished movie and the colour must have been altered in post-production as it's a much deeper, richer blue, as featured on the film's marketing materials.

Also on display as part of this fantastic exhibit at the El Capitan Theatre was one of Cinderella's Swarovski crystal slippers, and this one actually looks like a real foot could fit inside it compared to other promotional replicas I've seen before.

If you like this breath-taking gown, be sure to stay tuned in the days to come for even more fabulous movie costumes from Cinderella on display.
