Princess Aurora's coronation gown from Disney's Maleficent on display...

In Disney's 2014 live-action fantasy tale Maleficent, not only do we learn the secret origin of the iconic fairy, but we also learn more about her connection to the legendary Sleeping Beauty, 'Princess Aurora', played in the movie by Elle Fanning.

This Princess Aurora coronation costume designed by Anna B. Sheppard and these original props featured in the movie were photographed on display as part of a special exhibit at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on June 3, 2014.

The teenage Princess wears this coronation outfit, which you can see is influenced by nature, at the end of the movie when she is crowned ruler of both the human kingdom and the magical Moors lands, unifying the two realms in peace.

  1. You know, I might be tempted to go to the movies more than twice a year if our theater had exhibits like this.

  2. These costume and props exhibits at places like the El Capitan Theatre and the ArcLight cinemas really are great - I love comparing what you see on screen with all the lighting and post-production tinkering to the real thing.

    Sometimes the costumes look much less impressive on the screen and vice versa, they can look cheaper in person. But it's still a thrill to see them every time.
